The worst Call of Duty game available right now is Modern Warfare III.

The COD MW3 marketing for 2023 has finally arrived, and it’s awful on a number of fronts.

The set pieces in Call of Duty games are explosive. You represent the ultimate power dream of being a hyper-masculine soldier, violating the law and committing the occasional war crime all in the name of saving the world. You dash from cover to cover, experience to experience, missiles and bombs drop in your trail, and enemy bases explode.

It’s always been that way, and in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, the stakes are lower than they’ve ever been.
This campaign is a straight continuation of Modern Warfare II from the previous year. After being apprehended, Makarov is briefly detained in jail.

Following an escape made possible by his PMC, he somehow manages to wreak havoc on the world once more and carry out terrorist activities that spark World War 3.

Since this is a remake of Modern Warfare 3, we’ve seen it all before, yet each mission and interaction has lost all of its intensity. The characteristic Call of Duty linear setpieces are essentially nonexistent, all for the sake of some of the clumsiest multiplayer map adaptations we’ve ever seen with solo goals.

The campaign here essentially borrows the notion of Call of Duty’s DMZ mode, which drops you into multiplayer maps to fulfil objectives while – generally – facing off against NPC adversaries, without any thought given to whether or not it’s actually good.

To be honest, DMZ mode is hardly kept up by the ability to communicate with friends in multiplayer while taking down foes.

However, as this is a campaign, your only companions will be the meaningless, jargon-filled radio communications. You won’t have multiplayer friends with you.

In an open (and unduly familiar) terrain, you may select whatever objectives you’d want to prioritise first in these new “Open Combat Missions.” Though conceptually sound, the notion lacks the appeal of Call of Duty campaigns in real life.

This is just an enhanced multiplayer game with stupid enemy NPCs that you have to shoot down.
There are a total of 14 missions in the game, six of which are Open Combat Missions in the DMZ style, while many of the others are either short or uninteresting.

Operation 627’s introduction sounds like a very standard, albeit uninspired, COD start, but Payload seems like a true replay of a mission from the previous game.

If you play Deep Cover, a brief infiltration mission that in previous games would have been a cutscene, Passenger is the No Russian of today without any of the impact or shock,

and Danger Close is a traditional overhead gunner stage, you’ll be so burned out and disappointed by how little truly interesting has happened by the time you finish it.

Furthermore, even though the post-9/11 era’s fantastical thrills of dropping bombs on glowing dots from miles above may have been empowering, there’s something about false-flag terrorist operations carried out by people speaking Arabic that leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

In the current digital age, it’s easier than ever for innocent families to demonstrate how war ravages their homes and communities.

The culmination of this is the “Your tax dollars at work” trophy, which you receive after eliminating a single adversary with a missile.

This may have been a lighthearted reference to the ridiculousness of contemporary warfare, but the game celebrates it every other chance.

Modern Warfare II from the previous year felt more intriguing and inventive than many Call of Duty campaigns, notably those like Vanguard, even if it could never match the heights of something like Titanfall 2.

Each level in the game included a fresh concept to take advantage of. It seems as though Modern Warfare III is the epitome of “this exists because it has to.”

Due to the necessity for extensive post-launch adjustments for the last game and the recent unionisation of many teams, Activision’s studios are under pressure to create this game within the short timeline.

What we have here is the result of an annual triple-A launch in which publishers are unable to just fire their employees.

The remaining material seems to be a metaphor. In other words, Modern Warfare III is the result of an extremely strict release schedule driven by stock prices and financial reports.

It’s a very basic experience designed primarily to justify taking more money from customers during one of the most expensive periods in history.

Additionally, it strangely serves as a tone-death defence of the never-ending and unending conflict we witness around the world, even at a moment in the modern day when it doesn’t seem to have gotten any worse.

Launching at the worst possible time, this is the worst Call of Duty campaign ever.
Modern Warfare III is a testament to the conceit and ignorance of humanity. Besides, it’s garbage.
