The release date, eligibility, objective, and status of the Rythu Bandhu Scheme
The Telangana government’s Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Department is set to launch the Rythu Bandhu Scheme in December 2023 with the aim of augmenting agricultural productivity and income for the farmers in Telangana state.
The Rythu Bandhu Scheme
As a farmer welfare initiative, the Telangana government introduced the Rythu Bandhu Scheme, also known as the Farmer’s Investment Support Plan (FISS), in 2018.
The Telangana state government offered the 58 lakh farmers who took part in the programme ₹5,000 per acre of land as a farm investment for two harvests. This investment is made twice a year, for the rabi and kharif harvests.

The Rythu Bandhu Scheme, the country’s first direct farmer investment assistance programme, provides cash payments to eligible participants directly.
The programme was introduced by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in 2018, and ₹12,000 crore was allocated from the state budget for it.
Release Date of Rythu Bandhu: 2023
The government has directed farmers to deposit Rythu Bandhu payments into their accounts as of December 2023.
This ensures that the farmers receive the critical financial assistance as quickly as possible.
This week is when farmers should anticipate receiving direct deposits into their accounts because bank disbursements are due to start.
In keeping with the current Kharif season, the funds have been disbursed on time; two installments were already reserved for farmers in November.
In what way can one apply for the Rythu Bandhu Scheme?
Any landowner farmer may apply under this plan by contacting the Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO) or local agricultural officials and providing the information for their bank account.

The Rythu Bandhu Scheme’s goals
The two goals of the Rythu Bandhu Scheme are as follows:
To promptly supply funds to fulfil each farmer’s initial investment requirements
To keep farmers from getting into debt
Its objective is to help the state’s farmers pay for a sizable amount of their seed, fertiliser, pesticide, and field preparation expenses.
Bandhu Rythu Telangana’s eligibility for schemes
The farmers must be residents of the state of Telangana.
The farmers must be the owners of the agricultural land.
All farmers, including marginal and small farmers and those who cultivate forest land (primarily from Scheduled Tribe communities) and hold a Record of Forest Rights (ROFR) document, are eligible.
Commercial farmers are not eligible for this programme.
This programme is not available to farmers who are tenants or who have leases.
Crops Covered by the Rythu Bandhu List
Amount per acre for the Rythu Bandhu Scheme
The government of Telangana would pay each and every farmer in the state Rs. 10,000 per acre annually. For each crop season (Kharif and Rabi seasons), it is distributed in two payments, or tranches, at the rate of Rs. 5,000 per acre.
There is no cap on the total number of acres. Because of this, all farmers receive Rs. 5,000 for each acre they own during harvest season.

Implementation of the Rythu Bandhu Scheme
The government used LRUP to harmonise farmer land ownership data prior to the Rythu Bandhu Scheme.
The Revenue Department updated the land records of all Telangana farmers in accordance with the LRUP.
Under this plan, farmers who met the requirements received Pattadar passbooks based on land ownership from the Revenue Department.
According to research by the Revenue Department, 72 lakh farmers qualify for government assistance. Subsequently, additional farmers became members.
The majority of people in Telangana work in agriculture. 31 districts totaling 1.42 crore acres are included in this project.
Approximately 5,000 local revenue authorities and agricultural extension agents examined the crops that programme participants planted.
The government sends farmers a Rythu Bandhu cheque and brand-new, complimentary Pattadar Dharani passbooks with the most recent information on land sales, purchases, and ownership. There are seventeen tamper-proof features in the new passbook.
Following the eleventh payment, Telangana gave the Rythu Bandhu project a donation of Rs. 72,910 crore.
The Rythu Bandhu Scheme’s advantages
Under the Rythu Bandhu Scheme, the Telangana government would give every farmer an annual payment of Rs. 5,000 per acre. It can be applied to crops in the months of Rabi and Kharif.
Qualified farmers receive an annual allocation of Rs. 10,000 from the government to purchase chemicals, seeds, fertiliser, and other necessities for agriculture (Rs. 5,000 per acre during the Rabi season and Rs. 5,000 per acre during the Kharif season).
Status of Rythu Bandhu 2023: Release of the Tenth Phase Payment
The tenth phase of the Telangana government’s investment support programme for farmers, known as Rythu Bandhu, was formally introduced on Wednesday. During this phase, 70.54 lakh farmers would receive Rs 7,676 crore in bank accounts as investment support for the Yasangi season.
The state’s finance minister, T. Harish Rao, stated that on the first day, 21,02,822 farmers who owned up to an acre of land had Rs 607.32 crore deposited in their accounts.
The investment support is distributed at a rate of Rs 5,000 per acre. Farmers with up to two acres of land will get the money on Thursday, and farmers with up to three acres will have it deposited into their accounts on Friday. Assistance would be provided for 1.53 crore acres during this season.
