Prime Minister Modi calls on voters to uphold democracy by doing their part and participating in the fourth round of the Lok Sabha election.
Among the main candidates in the fourth round of voting are Giriraj Singh, Arjun Munda, Akhilesh Yadav, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary, and Mahua Moitra.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged a big turnout to vote, saying that everyone had a responsibility to uphold India’s democracy. Mr. Modi urged voters to cast ballots in record numbers at polling places as record numbers of people were expected to do so for the Lok Sabha elections being held nationwide along with Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
Both Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, the president of the Congress, urged voters to participate in the fourth round of the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections in huge numbers in order to support the INDIA bloc’s bid to establish the government at the center.
On May 13, polls for Phase 4 of the Lok Sabha elections opened at 7 a.m. The polls close at six o’clock. 96 seats in 10 States and Union Territories are up for election in this phase.
In this voting phase, there will also be elections in Andhra Pradesh (25), Telangana (17), Uttar Pradesh (13), Maharashtra (11), Madhya Pradesh (8), West Bengal (8), Bihar (5), Odisha (4), and Jammu and Kashmir (1). The 175-member State Assembly will include representatives chosen by voters in Andhra Pradesh. Additionally, elections for 28 Legislative Assembly seats in Odisha are scheduled for Monday.
There are more than 1,717 contestants running in this round of the Lok Sabha elections. They include Congressman Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary, TMC’s Mahua Moitra (Krishnanagar), SP’s Akhilesh Yadav (Kannauj), and Union Minister and BJP leader Giriraj Singh (Baharampur).
Among the other prominent contenders in the race are Union Minister and former chief minister of Jharkhand Arjun Munda (Khunti), TMC’s Shatrughan Sinha (Asansol), Congress’ Y.S. Sharmila (Kadapa), and BJP’s Madhavi Latha (Hyderabad).
According to the IMD’s most current forecast, the constituencies holding elections on election day are expected to see normal to below-average temperatures and won’t see heatwave-like conditions. To be safe, the Indian Election Commission has requested that all polling places supply fans and water for both voters and staff.
Phase 4 would mark the conclusion of voting for 379 seats spread across 23 States and UTs. June 4, 2024, is when the votes are supposed to be counted.
