Review of Head Bangers: Rhythm Royale

I’ve realised throughout the years that my favourite gaming genre has evolved into Battle Royale.

I became hooked on employing all the talents necessary to be the last person remaining when I first started playing PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG).

Numerous worldwide phenomena, like Fortnite, Apex Legends, and even Call of Duty Warzone, were inspired by that game. There are experiences available that do delve into BR’s facets in inventive and fascinating ways.

Admittedly, I used the Xbox Game Pass software for cloud gaming when I initially played the game. Since I had to be precise with the beat, I was unable to play it because to latency and lag concerns.

The status of cloud gaming and bad hotel wifi are the only factors contributing to this decline, not the developer or publisher. I had a great time doing what I was doing, though, and I couldn’t wait to return home and use a more dependable connection.

I won’t destroy the element of surprise by playing through every minigame that is accessible. However, they all incorporate rhythm and memory in one way or another, as you can surely predict.

One game I can think of is where you have to hit the buttons in rhythm with the beat that the DJ is playing. Another amusing one has you select which pigeon, based on what it’s wearing, would go well with a little piece of music that plays.

The fact that they are lined up like they are prepared to be identified at a police station makes it all the more amusing.

Sadly, the lowest scorers will be eliminated from the game after each round. But not everyone can succeed, huh? This is what maintains replayability high and entices you to return for more.

Only those who successfully click the appropriate buttons at the appropriate times will advance through the more challenging minigames.

You’ll also see pickups flying across the screen while playing rounds. You can get extra experience points, in-game money, and even a competitive advantage by capturing these and using the appropriate trigger. However, use caution since occasionally this might throw you off balance and cause you to lose focus.

I adore the way Head Bangers Rhythm Royale is visually displayed on screen; the clear menus and vivid colours go so well together.

It is really addicting to be able to customise your pigeon with the wide variety of cosmetics that you can obtain during games.

You’re motivated to play it more to accomplish your goals when you see what you can uncover. While certain tasks must be completed in order to earn special clothes, most unlockables may be obtained by playing regularly.

The minigames’ design and artwork are clearly the result of extensive labour, and their creation must have presented significant logistical challenges.

They really nailed it with their sound design, which features lively music that seeps through to satisfy those crucial rhythms. The pigeons, with their clever antics that remind me a lot of the Worms games, are my favourite.

 

In the Battle Royale genre, Head Bangers Rhythm Royale is a novel idea that has never been attempted before. It’s ideal for quick pick-ups or extended play sessions, and even after many hours, I never felt bored.

Since the game is now being marketed as being in Season One, it is hoped that the minigames will be developed further and maybe even cycled to maintain interest.
