Day after attorney receives jail time, the Young Thug/YSL trial resumes.
Lead counsel for Jeffery Williams, also known as Young Thug, Brian Steel, was found in contempt of court and given a maximum 20-day detention sentence in the Fulton County Jail. For the following ten weekends, he will be incarcerated every weekend.
Young Thug attorney to serve time in prison
When Young Thug’s attorney, Brian Steel, informed the court that he had learned of a conversation involving the judge, prosecutors, and a high-profile witness for the district attorney’s office, an already acrimonious day in court took an unusual turn. Steel has now received a 20-year sentence.
Steel moved for a mistrial after finding out about the exchange. Judge Glanville kept asking Steel how he learned this information, but he would not divulge his source.
A mistrial was also requested by a number of other lawyers, but Glanville rejected each one.

He still seemed hesitant to respond to inquiries and frequently gave evasive responses when he took the stand again on Monday. In addition, he complained about being overheated and stated that he had eyesight issues when asked to identify Shannon Stillwell in court.
Which accusations does Young Thug face?
Young Thug was charged in May 2022 by a Fulton County grand jury, and further counts were added in an August indictment of the same year. Young Thug and 27 other individuals were charged in the second indictment with plotting to violate Georgia’s RICO, or the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act. Along with drug and weapon accusations, the rapper was also said to have been involved in violent street gang activities.
Young Thug and two other individuals, according to the prosecution, co-founded the deadly street gang Young Slime Life, or YSL, in 2012. YSL is allegedly connected to the nationwide Bloods gang.
The August indictment contained a broad list of 191 activities that prosecutors claim were carried out between 2013 and 2022 as part of the purported conspiracy to advance the gang’s goals, in addition to specific accusations.
Accusations that Young Thug threatened to shoot a security guard in July 2015 because the guard was attempting to persuade him to leave a mall in the Atlanta region were included in that list. According to the indictment, Young Thug also hired a silver Infiniti vehicle that was used to assassinate Donovan “Nut” Thomas, a member of a rival gang. He and others are also accused of having repeatedly been in possession of other illicit narcotics that they planned to distribute.

Marquavius Huey, Deamonte Kendrick (also known as Yak Gotti), Quamarvious Nichols, Rodalius Ryan, and Shannon Stillwell are among the other defendants who are currently awaiting trial.
