New semiconductor production, according to Ratan Tata, will make Assam famous worldwide.
The Tata Group’s Rs 27,000-crore indigenous “Semiconductor Assembly & Test Facility” at Jagiroad in the Morigaon district received a virtual foundation stone last week, thanks to PM Narendra Modi.
Ratan Tata, an industrialist and the Emeritus Chairman of Tata Sons, stated that Assam will become globally recognized due to Tata’s production of semiconductors there. When Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Chairman N Chandrasekaran and Emeritus Chairman Ratan Tata of Tata Sons, he expressed gratitude to them for establishing the semiconductor factory, the foundation of which was laid last week by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“The investments being made in Assam transform the state in complex treatment for cancer care,” wrote Ratan Tata in a post on X. Today, Assam will become a major player in the highly advanced semiconductor industry thanks to a partnership between the state government and the Tata group. This new development will make Assam more widely known. We are grateful to Mr.
Along with posting X, Sarma expressed gratitude to Ratan Tata for his investment and wisdom.
PM Narendra Modi essentially broke ground on the Tata Group’s Rs 27,000-crore domestic “Semiconductor Assembly & Test Facility” in Jagiroad in the Morigaon area last week.
In the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL) also laid the foundation for its Rs 91,000 crore semiconductor fabrication facility. Virtually speaking, PM Narendra Modi laid the cornerstone for India’s first semiconductor factory.
Together, Tata Electronics and Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC) of Taiwan will construct India’s first cutting-edge fabrication facility with AI capabilities. Chips for applications like power management integrated circuits (IC), display drivers, microcontrollers (MCU), and high-performance computer logic will be produced in the new semiconductor fab. The first chip will be produced by the Fab before the end of 2026, and it will be able to produce up to 50,000 wafers per month.
Chandrasekaran, the chairman of Tata Sons, stated last week: “India’s development becoming a semiconductor powerhouse is crucial. I’m happy that the Tata Group was able to open the first indigenous assembly plant and semiconductor FAB in Assam. With this particular investment, that region of the world will change significantly and create a lot of jobs.
